PPC Search Engine Marketing Thoughts

PPC search engine internet marketing is epitomized by the Google Adwords program, though there are others, the biggest of the rest being Yahoo Search Marketing, formerly known as Overture. It is a means of advertising by paying a certain sum of money for every click made on your advert. We will discuss Google Adwords here, though the same considerations also apply to most other PPC programs, including Yahoo S.M.

On the face of it, PPC seems like a good deal, and you are not forced to pay any more than you can afford. There are pitfalls to this, however, and if you decide to embark on this type of advertising, you should plan your campaign carefully, choose the best keywords that you can find and then set yourself a daily and monthly budget.

First let’s have a look at how PPC advertising works. It is a keyword-based advertising system which means that you should search for keywords that best describe the product you are selling. Keywords are those words that will lead people using them to search for what they are looking for to your product. When potential customers search on Google for a product they get a page of results, the familiar Google results page. This provides a list of ten web pages on the left hand side of your screen that have been classed by the Google search engine algorithm as being the most useful to the searcher for the search term, or keyword, they used for the search.
